AC006 Earth’s Moon necklace

This bead necklace shows Earth’s Moon strung on a sterling silver chain.

The lampwork beads are made in my Christchurch, New Zealand, workspace at XCHC, a shared maker space. It is made by melting and winding glass rods so it resembles the NASA photographs of the Moon and, while the glass is still hot, is treated to make a matt and cratered surface like our Moon.  The bead has some grains of sand scattered on it to represent the pieces of Earth-origin rockets abandoned on the surface.
